Obama Bumper Sticker
Stopped at a red light while on my way to the bookstore this past weekend I noticed this bumper sticker on a filthy yellow SUV to my right.
What caught my eye was the fact that the globe prominently featured in the “O” isn’t centered on America. In fact, we see more of South America and we do the United States. Oddly enough, Africa takes center stage on this graphic.
I’m not sure what I’m supposed to take away from this bumper sticker. Is Obama the president of the USA, or is he trying to portray himself more as a “world” president?
What, exactly, is the message here?

Well Herman, he is populair all around the world, and has family ties with Africa. And as for the sticker, it’s probably created by fans that are Africans?
Interesting hypothesis. You never know, I guess…
Why does it have to be centered on the United States? Every country on this ball we called Earth has equal importance before the eyes of God. Get off your high horse and realize that people from other countries have just as much right to be on this earth as you do.
I think you’re missing the point here. This is a political bumper sticker promoting an American president, yet the globe pictured doesn’t seem to be reflecting that message. I just found that quite odd.
And nowhere did I say that Americans are more important than any other human being on this Earth. You seem to be trying to counter an argument I never made and a stance I never took. By implying that I’m suffering from some sort of “We’re number one” mentality tells me that you either:
A) Are stuck in a political ideology where opposing viewpoints are belittled and ignored
B) Didn’t read my post, and/or completely misinterpreted it
So, which is it? How else can I point out the downright oddness of this bumper sticker?
