Padres Panda?

While channel surfing this past Sunday night, I was lucky enough to happen upon the Padres/Giants baseball game. As the batters took their stances, an unusual…something…could be seen in the crowd. I stared for several minutes, trying to make sense of what I was looking at until Karin, who plopped down on to the couch behind me, pointed excitedly at the television and shouted, “Panda!”
Sure enough, it did indeed look like a giant panda was sitting in the stands, getting some excellent TV air time with every batter. WTF? Is this some sort of meme I’m not aware of?
I really wish this game was showing on a high definition channel. Would have loved to have snagged a better pic.
