Insomnia
Let’s hear it for that great equalizer…insomnia!
I haven’t been sleeping well these past few nights. Whatever the reason, I just can’t fall asleep. I’ll toss and turn, eyeballing the red glowing clock through razor slits for eyes as it ticks past 1am…2am…3am. And just when I’m about to pass out, right when I can feel the world begin to melt away in a warm, slow tumble, I catch myself and wake right up.
Morning arrives quickly, the day goes by far too slowly, and before I know it it’s time to start the whole ritual all over again.
This video is an excellent example of how I’ve been feeling these past few days:
I think the root cause stems from work. I’ve had one day off these past two weeks, and half of that time was spent “on call”. I haven’t had time to go on a run or hit the gym. I believe my body is revolting on me, silently urging me to find time to hit the trails and throw some iron around.
I think I might have Karin pick up Tyler from the sitter tomorrow so I can hit up Iron Mountain after work. A bit of physical abuse is just what I need to get me right…
