National Geographic Top Photos of 2012

January 10th, 2013 Leave a comment Go to comments

National Geographic has just released their picks for the top photos of 2012.

Intriguing, inspiring, heartbreaking, unbelievable, disturbing; these photos run the entire emotional gambit.  It’s well worth a few minutes out of your day to see what 2012 had to offer.  Be sure to use the drop down menus, selecting not just the winners, but the rest of 2012.

I’ll admit to having differing opinions on some of the winners, because some of the weekly photos really amazed me, and I find it difficult to understand why some of them weren’t selected as top pics.  But hey, what do I know?

Go on, take a look.  I’d be interested in hearing what you think.  Check out the National Geographic 2012 photos here.

    Wow! These photos are amazing!

I went to the NG website and clicked through a few of the weeks, and I have to agree with you….there were some there that I can’t believe weren’t chosen. Not that the winners weren’t great, but some of the other entries were just WOW!

Love the one of the red fox in the snow!

Thanks for sharing this post, buddy, because I LOVE looking at photos!

Ooooooohhhhhhh! The sleds is my favourite, but you’re right. I’ve seen so many gorgeous, breathtaking photos from NG that it’s hard to know how some of these got in to the finals. But still. Maybe it’s simply the rarity, or the technical quality of the photo.

Loved the tiger one, especially. The one at the Eiffel Tower is interesting, but it brought up a memory of the Exorcist poster. lol I definitely like ‘glacial ice’. It would be awesome to have any of their photographic skill, even the lesser interesting ones still had … something.

I’d hate to be asked to choose a winner. That’s what I CALL photography.
