Monster Movies

Karin and I took Tyler to the movie theater for the first time this past weekend. We we’re unsure how he was going to handle this new experience, but we figured that at three-and-a-half he should be able to sit through a movie with making a scene, and luckily for us he did. For the entire showing Tyler didn’t make fuss, scream, or fidget in any way short of standing up for a few minutes as we shared popcorn. The rest of the time he sat on mommy’s lap, captivated by the images on the large screen showing Monsters University.

Several times I looked over to see him staring slack jawed at the movie with eyes wide in wonder.

Mike Wazouski

And at one point, where the main monsters did something that made all the characters on the screen shout and cheer, I watched as Tyler raised both of his arms high into the sky and heard him shout “Yay!” along with the movie. Man, that made my day…

Tyler is now asking when we’ll next go to the movies. Knowing that he had such a great time at the theater makes me unusually…what’s the word? Happy? Fulfilled? Content? Proud?  Whatever the word, I’m just glad to know that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and that my son enjoys movies as much as his old man does.

Now, all he needs to do is grow up a bit and start diving into my collection of 1200+ blu-rays and DVDs. I can’t wait to see his face as he experiences some of these fantastic flicks for the first time. I actually envy him in this task…

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July holiday, and if you’re located out of the States, here’s hoping that you don’t work too hard the rest of the week…

See everyone again on Monday!!

And you’re right…the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video
to make your point. You clearly know what youre talking
about, why waste your intelligence on just posting
videos to your blog when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?

Awww :) It’s SO nice to be able to share our favourite things with our kids and see them really enjoy it.

    Have a wonderful holiday.

Pandora’s Box (Office) has now officially been opened!
Seriously, though, I love your description of Tyler’s experience, and how much fun you all had. This movie, by the way, is at the very TOP of my list of must-sees. Happy 4th!!

I so loved this post and I can imagine the awe written on Tyler’s face as he watched the film. What a thrill for him, and for you too. Hope the 4th is a brilliant day for you.
