Terrible Analogies

Alright, I’ll be the first to admit that this video instantly shot up to the top of my “that’s cool” list the instant I watched it.  Talk about a band getting their fans involved in the creative process!  

From the description:

This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam. 

I couldn’t help but smile as I watched this.  I don’t know about you, but I’m actively hunting down this EP with a vengeance. Bands like Sour deserve our support.  Throw this video up on MTV and you’ve got a hit.

Makes me long for the days when I got hit in the head by bits of plastic as Trent Reznor destroyed his keyboards on stage just five feet from where I was standing.  Now that’s how you connect with your audience

Oh, before I forget, I must mention that I live with an unnatural, unhealthy fear of losing my hair.  If I ever…evar…find myself sans follicles, I’ve made a pact with God and all that’s holy and wonderfully sublime that I’ll grow a mustache equal or greater in stature to that of my new found hero:

The way I figure it, once I get the ‘stache, all I’ll need is some booze, a bike, and some broads to make the entire ensemble complete.

Knowing my luck, here I am not-so-subtilely mocking a complete stranger simply because of his looks, when in fact he’s probably a Nobel prize winning laureate in the field of quantum atomic superstructures, and yes, as a matter of fact, he is a rocket scientist.  *sigh*

My mini-vacation started this afternoon.  I worked 4 hours today then took off.  I won’t back back to work until Tuesday.  I think I’ll jump on my hog and take off to parts unknown, where the crank flows free and the fists do the talkin’.

…Either that, or the wife and I will have the parents over for dinner and some exciting news.

What…in…the…heck?

Poor amorphous blob. It’s tough going against the grain, especially when a Muppet is holding a gun to your head.  Such is the way it goes around here on a Friday I guess.  Perhaps next week will be a little better, assuming I can finally kick this cold-flu thing that’s been bogging me down since last Sunday.

As well.  As my dad always said to me, “When you come to the fork in the road, take it.”  I’m not sure what that has to do with anything.  I just like the way it sounds

WooHoo!  I just got off a twelve hour work today.  I’m beat, but tomorrow is Friday, and rumor has it that it’ll be a short half-day.  I’m looking forward to taking off at noon, throwing on my running gear, and hitting Iron Mountain.  Working out is what keeps me sane and stops me from strapping a razor sharp weapon to the front of my vehicle and attacking defenseless vegetables.

As I write this I’m happily enjoying a Sam Adams, feeling tired but content.  I guess if things really start going sideways in life I could abandon the beer and throw a bag over my head in an attempt to hide from the world.

Ahhh, but who am I kidding? We’re all doomed. Our mechanical alien overloads are bound to take over at any moment…

…now, where did I put that paper bag?

It’s Friday, and that means Terrible Analogies can slack off a bit, crack open a beer, and troll the ‘Net for a few hours and avoid any real responsibilities for a while…

The weekend is just a day away, but did you know that I have to work this Saturday, giving me just one day off this week?  No lie there.  Did you also know that I have a wicked looking third degree burn that covers my biceps on my left arm?  Strange but true.  The more you know…

But I guess I really can’t complain.  I’m gainfully employed, happily married, and live a (relatively) healthy lifestyle.  As an added bonus, we have a cat that loves sleeping with us at night, curling up next to me as I drift off to sleep.  I think she thinks she’s some sort of house mom, even going so far as to come downstairs and noisily round us up when it gets late, marching us up to bed when she knows it’s past our bedtime.  Crazy cat…

Ah, well.  It’s the end of the week and I’m spent, so I’ll leave you with the glorious visual of a chimpanzee riding on a Segway.  See y’all on Monday when normal posting will resume…
